Dr Jabir Abdullakutty has about 15 years of experience in the medical profession, with proficiency in the field of invasive and non-invasive Cardiology. His experience includes management of critical care cases in a coronary care unit, acute cases in cardiac wards and open heart surgery units. Dr. Abdullakutty serves as the Attending Cardiologist at Lisie Hospital, which is a high-volume interventional centre. He is also in charge of the pacemaker clinic and non-invasive lab, as well as teaching and research projects. In terms of interventional work, he has performed more than 1800 angioplasties as primary operator, (including 200 primary angioplasties) and 1500 cases as first assistant; 85% of the coronary procedures were done through the radial route. He has extensive experience with pacemaker implantation, peripheral angioplasty, renal angioplasty, carotid angioplasties, balloon pulmonary valvotomy, balloon mitral valvuloplasty, stenting for coarctation of aorta, atrial septal defect closure, ventricular septal defect closures and rotablation, pericardiocentesis, etc. In the non-invasive area he has performed a large number of transoesophageal echocardiograms, supervised and interpreted treadmill tests, and assessed Holter monitor reports, among other tests and procedures.

Before taking up his present assignment at Lisie Hospital, Dr Abdullakutty worked in various capacities at several hospitals in Kerala. He was Senior House Surgeon at Medical College, Kottayam, in 1992-93; Consultant Physician at AM Hospital, Karunagapally, in 1996-97; Head of the Department of Cardiology at Bharath Hospital, Kottayam, in 2000-2002; Head of the Department of Cardiology at Vijaya Hospital, Kottarakara, from 2002 to 2006; and, Visiting Consultant at Gokulam Medical College, Trivandrum, in 2005-06. Dr. Abdullakutty completed a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from Lisie Hospital in 2006-07. He then served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology at Pushpagiri Medical College, Tiruvalla from 2007 to 2009.

Dr. Jabir Abdullakutty has been involved in a number of clinical trials, attended many national and international conferences, courses and workshops in India and around the world, and served as a faculty member at numerous conferences. He has been actively involved in various medical associations, participating as a senior office bearer or on executive committees including conference organising committees.
